About This Rare Print 

This limited edition poster features the poem Oliphaunt from The Lord of the Rings and is crafted using traditional letterpress methods. The poem is printed with metal type, while the title is blind embossed using woodblock type. Produced on imported paper, only 100 copies have been created worldwide.

Each print is hand-printed and numbered by artists Richard Ardagh and Graham Bignell at New North Press. The poem, as recited by Sam the Hobbit in Book IV, Chapter 3 of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, is an old Shire rhyme describing a legendary beast from the South, used by Men to carry houses and towers.

The printing involves two stages: the poem is set in metal type and printed first, while the title is created with wooden type and blind embossed (pressed without ink) the following day. Both processes are carried out on an Albion Press, with the paper pre-damped for precision.

Strictly limited to 100 copies, no additional prints will be produced. Each poster comes rolled in a triangular shipping tube with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artists and numbered to match the edition.
